A show of cards

When all is revealed,
and my cards are laid bare
for you to see
will you turn away with repulsion?
You must understand
That you have quite a fan,
Adorer, lover and a lusty eye
Who will look for you
As for a wish which did not come true
If you must turn away.
You are meant to stay forever, by the way
And not leave me alone.
But if you must
I will cry.
Aren't you my baby?
I will hold you tight, and keep you close. Take half your warmth. Burn you with kisses. And love you all I can.
But if you must,
mend your heart and move on,
and not love this sick person
please go and save yourself.

  1. I hope when you look back at it, some day, you're in a better place.

  2. I find this interestingly paradoxical. On the one hand, you (or the narrator) are expressing undeserved insecurity (rather, negation of oneself). On the other hand, all the feelings expressed are what one would want from one's ideal lover. Isn't it always the devoted, possessive, insecure ones that are the hardest to get over? Anyway, other than that, this was thought provoking. But sad too.

    1. Antara:I don't think the possessive, insecure ones are hardest to get over. Humans tend to not value whatever comes easy. And devoted ones are just rare. Jewels.
Chronus: who said I'm the person this poem is about? Lol.
      Thanks for dropping by.

    1. The incredibly cold and dark side of it. I wish you would write. December calls for dying flames to not die. And for your beautiful imagery!
